Mysterious, eco-friendly, elegant, and slightly dangerous. Clothing pins have a certain je ne sais quoi don't you think?
This shirt started as a 100% Organic Cotton Edun-Live t-shirt, grown and sewn in Africa.
I garment dyed it twice to get the shirt a rich and beautiful green. The stitching stayed a natural white color which makes a nice counterpoint to the green.
The clothing pin design was applied using a sea sponge and a hand cut freezer paper stencil. There is a small BEEDOCS logo Gocco printed on the right sleeve in red.

This one goes out to the ladies... The Pink Bee Tee uses a double-dye technique I've been wanting to try and turned out great!
Shirt Recipe:
1) Start with high quality Edun Live shirt (black)
2) Use a sea sponge to cover rubber stamp in color remover
3) Stamp design to remove the black die from shirt
4) Garment dye pink to color the areas affected by the color remover
The result are one of a kind, distressed looking prints that are incredibly soft because they are colored with dyes instead of a traditional printing process.

As some of you may know, my new hobby has been building Bee Docs into an international fashion brand. Here is the first step in that journey. The Bee Docs "Natural Selection" tee shirt.
We start with Edun Live 100% Organic Cotton tee shirts both grown and sewn in Africa. To learn more about how Edun is making a difference in Africa, check out this video.
We commissioned the renowned artist Engin Korkmaz from Istanbul, to create the illustration on the front.
The shirts were hand printed with water-based inks by artist, musician, and print maker PJ Portlock of Portland Oregon. Water based inks are free of PVC chemicals and merge beautifully with the organic cotton shirt. Rather than plastical inks that sit on top of the fabric, these inks look and feel like they are a part of the shirt itself.
The shirts will soon be available for $24.95 and in standard Men and Women sizes. They'll be up at beedocs.com in a few weeks, but if you can't wait, send me an e-mail and we'll work something out.
